What Athena refuses to decide

There is always a moment when a tool offers to be brave for you. Ship the copy. Close the ticket. Accept the default. The room is tired. The default is fluent.

Athena’s doctrine is unfashionable: fluency is not counsel.

The empty chair

We keep a chair in the fiction of this house because someone has to sit in it. If the model sits, you will still be asked later — by a lawyer, a customer, a person who lost a week. The chair does not disappear because the prose was confident.

Three refusals that are not features

Athena will not auto-publish. It will not take an unnamed seat. It will not pretend a ranking is a judgment.

These are not settings you turn on later. They are the shape of the table. If you need those behaviors, buy a different house.

What “draft” means here

A draft is not a lesser brief. It is a brief that has not yet met a name. You may keep drafts for months. The grove is for that. What you may not do is send a draft into a room and call it a decision.

When people say they want AI to move faster, they often mean they want the chair empty. We will not help with that.
